If your concerns about an academic decision are not resolved through informal resolution with the original decision-maker, or you believe there was a failure to follow due process, you may submit an online application for review to the relevant faculty or administrative unit.
Your application must be submitted within 20 working days from the date you received the outcome of your informal appeal. Your application should carefully explain your reasons for appealing the academic decision, explain any breaches in due process or policy and include any supporting documentation.
Find instructions on how to submit an application for review on the University website.
If you would like help writing your application for review, please contact us.
The faculty or Student Administrative Services will acknowledge receipt of your application within 3 working days.
The review will consider all relevant information. You should receive a decision within 15 working days from receipt of your application, or you will be informed of the reasons for the delay and be given an estimate of how long your review will take.
If you are late to apply for a review, the Associate Dean or Academic Panel may grant you an extension. You will need to explain why your application is late and, if possible, provide supporting evidence for your reason. Contact us for help with preparing a late application.
Procedures for applications for review to the faculty/school or Academic Panel are outlined in sections 3.1 and 3.2 of the Academic Appeals Rule. If the faculty won’t accept your appeal or are advising you to submit an appeal directly to the Student Appeals Body (SAB), contact us for advice.
If you were required to Show Good Cause, the faculty may have decided to exclude you from your degree or put conditions on your enrolment. The faculty should include their reasons in your Show Good Cause outcome.
If you are excluded from your course or do not agree with the conditions of your enrolment, you can dispute the decision by submitting an application for review. Your submission should:
