Justice of the Peace

A Justice of the Peace (JP) is a legally recognised witness for statutory declarations, and is able to certify signatures and copied documents. They offer this service for free.

SUPRA JP service

SUPRA Legal Service offers JP services to SUPRA members during office opening hours. Contact us to make an appointment.

Please bring:

  • your prepared statutory declaration
  • the documents to be witnessed and any copies to be certified
  • your student ID or photo identification.

Other JP services

There are a number of other JP services on the University’s various campuses. Find a JP on your campus. Most ask you to make an appointment beforehand.

Many organisations make JPs available at scheduled times and locations. This may include your local council, MP, court, library, chemist, post office or police station. Search the JP Public Register.

You can search by postcode, name of a JP, day of availability, language spoken and JP registration number.

JPs will expect you to have your prepared statutory declaration, the documents to be witnessed and any copies to be certified, as well as your student ID or photo identification with you.
