SUPRA Legal Service

SUPRA Legal Service Pty Ltd provides free legal advice, representation in court, and a referral service to postgraduate students who are SUPRA members.

Our solicitors can assist you with a wide range of legal issues, including:

  • administrative law (government etc.)
  • consumer complaints
  • intellectual property
  • court action against the University
  • credit and debt
  • criminal law
  • discrimination and harassment
  • domestic violence
  • employment law
  • family law (advice only)
  • migration* advice
  • motor vehicle accidents
  • University complaints
  • victims compensation
  • other general complaints

The Australian Government has implemented a registration scheme for the provision of immigration advice and our practice observes the strict Code of Conduct developed by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority.

Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.

How to use the Legal Service

Join SUPRA!

All currentlly enrolled Sydney Uni postgraduate students – full time or part time, coursework or research, local or international – can use the SUPRA legal service (and all other SUPRA services); you just need to be a SUPRA member. Membership is free – join now!

Drop-in 

During drop-in you can consult with a solicitor without having to make an appointment.

Legal service drop-in is from 1–3pm on Mondays and Thursdays at the SUPRA office. You don’t need an appointment to come to drop-in, but please arrive as close to 1pm as possible. We stop seeing students at 2:30pm. 

Note: drop-in is for new matters only. If you are already getting help with an issue from one of our solicitors, please contact them directly for ongoing assistance.

The SUPRA office is on Level 2 of the Holme Building, Camperdown campus.

Appointments 

If you can’t make it to drop-in, we can arrange face-to-face, phone, Skype and Zoom appointments. Contact us on (02) 9351 3715 or help@supra.usyd.edu.au to make an appointment.

  • Please email any documents ahead of your legal service appointment time, so that the solicitor has time to review them beforehand – this will help you get th emost out of your consultation.

Your first consulation with a solicitor must be face-to-face, or by phone, Skype or Zoom. Once you are a client of the service you can get help by email.
