Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q) How long does it take to complete the nomination form?
The nomination form should take you approximately 30 minutes to complete, but this may take longer if you write really detailed responses.
There is a section for you to provide your information, the nominee’s information and your seconder’s information. Once you have completed this, you will move onto 5 questions where you explain why you have made this nomination.
Q) What is a ‘seconder’?
A seconder is another student who is either supervised by the same person you are nominating or taught by the same person you are nominating.
For supervisor nominations, they can be your primary, secondary, auxiliary or any other type of supervisor.
Q) Will my teacher or supervisor know that I nominated them?
Yes, parts of your nomination will be shared with whomever you nominate. We may also use parts of your nomination in promotional material. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar issues, we will fix these up before publication.
Please note, entire nominations are not used, just one or two sentences that capture the essence of the nomination.
Q) How are nominations judged?
Nominations are judged by student volunteers from a variety of schools and faculties. The 5 questions in each nomination will be scored out of 5, and those with the highest scores will be announced as the winners.
If you would like to be involved in the judging process, please get in touch with SUPRA. We would love to have you involved.
Q) What if I am unable to attend the awards evening?
No problem, we understand everyone is really busy. If you win an award and are unable to attend the awards evening, we will get in touch to organise getting it to you.
Winners will also be posted on our social media platforms, website and in our newsletter, eGrad.
Q) Can I organise for someone else to attend the event on my behalf and accept the award, if I am unable to go?
Yes, that is no problem but please let us know beforehand. We want to ensure your award gets to you.
Q) Who can attend the awards evening?
This event is exclusively for nominees and their nominators – as a celebration. Nominators are encouraged to get in touch with their teachers or supervisors, so that they can attend the event together.
Invitations will be sent out directly to nominees, nominators and faculty representatives closer to the event. Keep an eye out for invitations around October.
