SUPRA Elections 2026

SUPRA Council General Election 2026–27

The General Election is the main election to elect up to thirty-one (31) General Councillors.

The schedule of the 2026 General Election includes:

  • Nominations open from 10am, Wednesday 25 March until 10am, Wednesday 8 April 2026.
  • Announcement of candidates and release of candidate statements from 4pm, Friday 10 April 2026.
  • Deadline to become a SUPRA member (to ensure you receive a link to vote) is 9am, Tuesday 28 April 2026.
  • Voting opens from 10am, Monday 20 April until 2pm, Thursday 30 April 2026.
  • Results emailed to candidates by 2pm, Saturday 2 May and announced on our website on Monday 4 May 2026.

Election results

The election for the 2026–27 SUPRA Council has concluded. Read the election results.

The Returning Officer’s report on the General Election will be delivered at the SUPRA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 14 May 2026.

The Councillors-Elect for 2026–27 will meet to elect their Office Bearers by the end of May 2026.

Supplementary election results

Following the General Election, one council position, reserved for a satellite campus student, remained unfilled. A supplementary election was held at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 14 May 2026. One valid nomination for the vacancy was received, and that candidate was duly elected.

Congratulations to Damilola Kareem who was elected to fill this position on council.

Election results were announced to candidates on Saturday 2 May and published on our website on Monday 4 May 2026.

Electoral complaints and concerns regarding breaches of SUPRA’s regulations and/or Constitution are to be raised with the Returning Officer via returning.officer@supra.usyd.edu.au with a clear summary.

SUPRA equity officer elections

SUPRA coordinates 6 equity networks for postgraduate students at the University of Sydney to support their specific needs within the University. Each equity network is coordinated by the equity officer elected by the network. Find out more about the equity networks.

Equity officer elections are run autonomously by each network for the following positions:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Officer
  • Disabilities Officer
  • International Student Officer
  • Queer Officer
  • Satellite Campus Officer
  • Women’s Officer.

Please be aware that no one may hold more than one council position at a time. Each elected equity officer becomes a member of SUPRA Council, and cannot also hold another position on council.

Equity election results

Congratulations to the following postgrads, who were elected as SUPRA equity officers for the 2026–27 term:

 

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Officer: Penny Vlies
  • Disabilities Officer: Sarah Huffman
  • International Students’ Officer: Runheng Zheng
  • Queer Officer: Terry (Zhihao) Yu
  • Satellite Campus Officer: Irene (Da Eun) Lee
  • Women’s Officer: Wenjin Zhu.

These officers will begin their terms on Wednesday 1 July 2026.
