Notice of election
SUPRA Councillors 2025–26
Notice is hereby given of the election of thirty-one (31) ordinary councillors to the Council of the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association for the 2025–26 term.
Note: all dates and times in this notice refer to Australian Eastern Standard Time/Australian Eastern Daylight Time (Sydney time).
Any postgraduate student at the University of Sydney who is also a SUPRA member, or willing to become a member, is eligible to nominate and vote in this election. SUPRA membership is free and available to postgraduate students by joining online.
Voting will be conducted through secure online ballots, sent to your University of Sydney email address.
Nominations
Nominations open at 9am, Wednesday 5 March 2025.
Nominations close at 4pm, Wednesday 19 March 2025.
Nomination forms:
All prospective candidates must complete and submit the Candidate nomination form by the close of nominations.
To submit a valid nomination, all candidates must be seconded by two electors, who must complete and submit the Candidate nominator (seconder) form by the close of nominations.
Nominations received after 4pm, Wedneday 19 March 2025 will not be accepted.
Candidates may be grouped together in ‘tickets’. To register a ticket, one candidate must complete and submit the Ticket registration form by the close of nominations.
The SUPRA Elections are governed by the SUPRA Constitution and the SUPRA Electoral Regulations, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. A copy of the SUPRA Electoral Regulations will also be emailed to all nominees.

Election timeline
Nominations open:
9am, Wednesday 5 March 2025.
Nominations close:
4pm, Wednesday 19 March 2025.
Candidates will be announced on the SUPRA website:
Friday 21 March 2025.
Opening of voting:
9am, Tuesday 1 April 2025.
Close of voting:
5pm, Thursday 17 April 2025.
The Returning Officer will declare the results by Sunday 20 April 2025.
Election of office-bearers
After the election of SUPRA Council members, the council-elect will meet and elect from among itself the following eight (8) officer positions:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Education Officer
- Higher Degree by Research Officer
- Director of Student Publications
- Community Engagement Officer
- Plus the election of any other offices that are created by the incumbent council or a General Meeting and are referred to this meeting for election.
