SUPRA Council General Election 2024
Notice of election: SUPRA Councillors 2024–25
Notice is hereby given of the election of twenty-seven (27) ordinary councillors to the Council of the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association for the 2024–25 term.
Note: all dates and times in this notice refer to Australian Eastern Standard Time (Sydney time).
Any postgraduate student at the University of Sydney who is also a SUPRA member, or willing to become a member, is eligible to nominate and vote in this election. SUPRA membership is free and available to postgraduate students by joining online.
Voting will be conducted through secure online ballots, via BigPulse, sent to your University of Sydney email address.
Nominations
Nominations open at 9am, Tuesday 12 March 2024
Nominations close at 3pm, Tuesday 26 March 2024.
All prospective candidates must complete and submit the Candidate nomination form by the close of nominations.
To submit a valid nomination, all candidates must be seconded by two (2) nominators (seconders), who must complete and submit the Candidate nominator (seconder) form by the close of nominations.
Nominations received after the designated closing time will not be accepted.
Candidates may be grouped together in ‘tickets’. To register a ticket, one candidate must complete and submit the Ticket registration form by the close of nominations.
The SUPRA elections are governed by the SUPRA Constitution and the SUPRA Electoral Regulations, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. A copy of the Electoral Regulations will also be emailed to all nominees.

Election timeline
Nominations open:
9am, Tuesday 12 March 2024.
Nominations close:
3pm, Tuesday 26 March 2024.
Candidates will be announced on the SUPRA website:
5pm, Tuesday 2 April 2024.
Opening of voting:
9am, Tuesday 9 April 2024.
Close of voting:
5pm, Wednesday 24 April 2024.
The Returning Officer will declare the results by Friday 26 April 2024.
Election of Officer Bearers
After the election of SUPRA Council members, the council-elect will meet and elect from among itself six (6) Officer Bearers:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Director of Student Publications
- Education Officer.
