SUPRA Elections 2023

SUPRA Council General Election 2023

The General Election is the main election to instate twenty seven (27) General Councillors. The General Election period for 2023 begins on Wednesday 15 March, with the opening of nominations. The close of polling will be Friday 28 April 2023, and the winners will be announced by Sunday 30 April 2023. Those who are elected to council begin their term on 1 July 2023 and continue until 30 June 2024, or until they resign from Council.

Nominations

Nominations are open from 9:00am, Wednesday 15 March 2023.

Nominations close at 3:00pm, Wednesday 29 March 2023.

To nominate, you must fill out the Candidate nomination form.

If you are intending to nominate as part of a ticket, you should fill out the Ticket nomination form.

All nominations must be accompanied by at least two (2) ‘seconders’ who support your candidacy. These seconders must be eligible current postgraduate students (enrolled or suspended) at the University of Sydney. Your seconders must fill out the Nominators/seconders form.

All nominations must be completed and received by the deadline.

To nominate, you must be a current postgraduate student (enrolled or suspended) at the University of Sydney. If you have completed the conditions of your degree and are awaiting graduation, you are not eligible to nominate. If you are not a current SUPRA member, you will become one by completing the nomination form.

Complaints and Disputes

If you believe that a person has acted in a way that would undermine the integrity of the election, or otherwise contravened the Constitution or Regulations of SUPRA, please contact the Returning Officer at returning.officer@supra.usyd.edu.au with a brief and clear explanation of your concern.

Candidates will be announced on this page by Friday 31 March 2023.

Voting open

13–28 April

Voting will open from 9am Thursday 13 April until 5pm, Friday 28 April 2023.

Election results

30 April

The Returning Officer will declare the results by Sunday 30 April 2023.
