Notice of Election

SUPRA Councillors 2023–24

Notice is hereby given of the election of twenty-seven (27) ordinary councillors to the Council of the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association for the 2023–24 term.

Note: all dates and times in this notice refer to Australian Eastern Standard Time (Sydney time).

Nominations will open: 9:00am, Wednesday 15 March 2023.
Nominations will close: 3:00pm, Wednesday 29 March 2023.

The ballot order will be drawn at a secure location at 3:00pm, Friday 31 March 2023.

Nominations forms are now closed.

Electoral Regulations can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. A copy of the Electoral Regulations will also be emailed to all nominees.

 

  • All candidate nominations should include a candidate statement.
  • All ticket nominations should include a ticket statement.

 

Nominations should be submitted via a completed online nomination form and must reach the Returning Officer by 3:00pm, Wednesday 29 March 2023.

 

Nominations received after the designated closing time will not be accepted.

 

Any postgraduate student at the University of Sydney who is also a SUPRA member, or willing to become a member, is eligible to nominate and vote in this election. SUPRA membership is free and available to postgraduate students by joining online.

Election timeline

Nominations open:
9:00am, Wednesday 15 March 2023.

Nominations close:
3:00pm, Wednesday 29 March 2023.

Candidates will be announced on the SUPRA website:
5:00pm, Friday 31 March 2023.

Access to online ballots will be issued:
9:00am, Thursday 13 April 2023.

Polls close:
5:00pm, Friday 28 April 2023.

The Returning Officer will declare the results by Sunday 30 April 2023.

Election of Officer Bearers:

After the election of SUPRA Council members, the council-elect will meet and elect from among itself six (6) Officer Bearers:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Student Publications
  • Education Officer.
