SUPRA launched the Postgraduate Student Social Impact Grant at Usyd in 2023, demonstrating a firm commitment to community building and enhancing student experiences. In 2023, the grant allocated funds to different student groups, enabling them to organise diverse events on campus, including cultural exchange and environmental awareness initiatives. Six groups successfully completed their projects in 2023 and this achievement was recognised at SUPRA’s Volunteer Awards Night.

Congratulations to all the postgrads who participated in Semester 2 2023! We’re proud to have supported the following projects:

  • Cultural Culinary Exchange – a celebration of cultural diversity through food, addressing significant food-related issues.
  • Infection: An Immersive Art Installation on Water Pollution – using art to raise awareness of water pollution.
  • Corporate Workout Series at the Faculty of Medicine and Health – aiming to improve the fitness and well-being of PhD students and faculty, this program offered exercise sessions during work hours, fostering a culture of wellness and work-life balance.
  • The Great Aussie BBQ: A Culinary Celebration of Research and Fellowship – combining Australian BBQ traditions with academic networking.
  • MOMOlicious: A Taste of Nepal’s Dashain Festival – introducing Nepali culture through culinary delights and festive spirit.
  • Diwali Celebration: celebrating Diwali with a focus on cultural exchange, featuring Indian snacks and activities highlighting the festival’s vibrant traditions. It was a joyful day of making new friends and sharing cultural experiences.
