Meaning Searching: No to Dictatorship

Drawing on our extensive experience and proven record advocating for genuine diversity, equity, and inclusion in the last 5 years on the council, we recognize a troubling trend: the misuse of ‘community’ as a divisive tool rather than a means of unity. We firmly reject practices that exploit the concept of community to further social division or personal agendas. Our vision for SUPRA is one rooted in authentic inclusion, where individual uniqueness is genuinely celebrated and protected. We aim to build a democratic, transparent organization that ensures sincere representation and prioritizes collective interests. Re-elect Meaning Searching and join us in saying No to Dictatorship to champion true inclusion and safeguard democratic governance within our postgraduate community.

Yinfeng (Benny) Shen

I share a strong passion for student welfares and advocacy. In the past 8 years, I have served as the University Fellow of Senate, SUPRA Educational Officer, USU Board Director/ Honorary Secretary on campus, and actively represented student voices in major Education policy changes and reform to quest for a better student experience, which includes recent Opal concession campaign, end placement poverty, university-wise anti-racism campaign, 5day simple extensions, and working closely with the government to bring back international students due to COVID border closure. If I get reelected, I am committed to advocating more for the community.

Eva Midtgaard

I aim to leverage my council expertise, focusing on student welfare, disability inclusion, and enhancing university conditions for students with carer responsibilities. As a HDR student and an experienced council member, I’ve completed two terms as SUPRA’s Disability Officer and have notably initiated and fulfilled the role of the Carer Officer. Seeking re-election, I intend to use my experience to support new council members and continue building a successful, supportive environment for all students. Your vote will help maintain our momentum in making SUPRA more inclusive and beneficial for future generations of postgraduate students.

Simultaneously, I’ll advocate for enhanced access to vital academic resources – from essential textbooks to academic journals – empowering every student with the resources they need to succeed in their postgraduate journey.

3. Recognising that 47% of Australian students seek mental health support, I will champion accessible stress-reduction strategies and culturally responsive counselling systems to ease academic pressure while fostering emotional resilience across our diverse postgraduate community.

Together, let’s create a postgraduate community where every voice is heard.

Yanchao Wang

My name is Yanchao (Cole) Wang, A Postgraduate student majoring in Master of professional accounting and business performance and this is my third semester. I am so proud to be a student of USYD and I have been enjoying studying and having fun here. However, I think our university is not doing enough to promote students’ welfare. For example, there is no canteen on campus to provide cheap and diverse food; Our commute to campus is expensive and we do not get the discounts that university students are entitled to; there is too much pressure from the final and we deserve a more comfortable and more rational appraisal mechanism. It has always been my belief that SUPRA is the most important bridge between students and the university and I just have one sample GOAL — Make USYD a better place for us. If I am elected as a SUPRA general councillor, I will dedicate myself to improving student’s well-being and making our voices heard. I believe USYD is more than a place for study, and we deserve better! I hope you can give me your trust and support by casting your valuable votes. It is time for us to make some

If re-elected, I will continue to enhance student engagement, improve communication on student rights, and implement initiatives that support student well-being. I am passionate about fostering an inclusive, supportive, and resourceful postgraduate community. I would be honoured to continue representing you. Please vote for me so we can keep making positive changes together!
