It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of former SUPRA President Christian Jones.
Christian was SUPRA Co-President for the 2015–2016 term, and also held the role of Director of Student Publications, while he was completing his Master of Public Health.
As Co-President (along with Kylee Hartman Warren) Christian fought to save Sydney College of the Arts and improve learning and teaching conditions at the Business School. He oversaw the return of the first Postgrad Ball since Voluntary Student Unionism, sought to ensure fair and equitable access to higher education, as well as a rewarding higher education experience, for all postgrads.
Christian’s daily presence in the SUPRA office was kind and warm, and bursting with sincerity. He was always seeking to learn from those around him, regardless of differing political allegiances, and was a staunch advocate for social justice. Christian was widely loved, and admired for his commitment to student rights.
The news of Christian’s passing has shocked and saddened those of us at SUPRA who were lucky enough to know and work with him. We share our condolences with his family and all those who loved him.
Vale Christian Jones
