Over the past 3 years, SUPRA has been supporting students dealing with a rental scam. When students tried to claim their bond, their former landlord would block all communication channels and stop responding to them. The landlord used multiple shell companies and was virtually impossible to track down. SUPRA caseworkers were able to make a report to Fair Trading, who uncovered that this landlord has done this to dozens of tenants.

If you think you are being treated unfairly by your landlord, contact SUPRA for advice and support.

Under NSW law, your rental contract must contain your landlord’s legal name and at least one way to contact them directly.
