SUPRA stands with the Iranian people who are protesting after the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa Amini died in police custody after being arrested for not wearing her headscarf correctly. Her family believe her death is the result of police brutality. Iranian protests demanding justice for Mahsa Amini and rights for women and girls have been violently suppressed, with more than 150 protesters killed across 17 provinces.

SUPRA stands with the Iranian people, and supports their right to safe protest without facing violent oppression from the police and government. Women and girls should have the right to public and private safety, and to determine the course of their own lives and religious practices. Our support goes out to all Iranian students, staff, and to those feeling the impact of this violence.
