On Thursday 2 April, a woman was the victim of racist violence in an attack in Belconnen, Canberra. She experienced assault, racist verbal abuse and taunting. This follows a concerning increase in racist violence against international students, migrant workers, and people of colour in our communities.
SUPRA is appalled by this attack and strongly condemns all forms of racism and racist violence. Everybody deserves to feel and be safe. Our thoughts and solidarity are with the victim of the attack in Canberra, her friend who was present at the scene, and all survivors of racist violence. If you have been impacted by racism or racist violence, you can contact our casework service for confidential support.
