Late last year, the NSW government passed massive reforms to tenancy laws in NSW. These reforms, which came into effect on Monday 19 May 2025, will have huge benefits for tenants, including:
- no more no-grounds evictions (for both fixed-term and periodic leases)
- easier laws around having pets in tenancies
- limiting rent increases to one a year
- limits to fees at the start of tenancy
- fee-free bank transfers as a payment option on a lease.
