Sydney vigil
6pm
Wednesday 2 November 2022
Town Hall
Cassius Turvey was a 15 year old Noongar boy. He ran a ‘pay what you can’ lawnmowing service with his friends. A young leader in his community, Cassius was always ready to help schoolfriends with homework, and had his whole life ahead of him. He is loved dearly by his family, friends, and his community.
He was murdered on his way home from school in Middle Swan, Boorloo/Perth. The attack occurred on 13 October 2022, and Cassius succumbed to his injuries on 23 October 2022. In what can only be described as racially-motivated violence, Cassius was beaten to death by a non-Aboriginal man.
SUPRA would like to pay our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of Cassius Turvey.
We encourage you to attend one of the many vigils being held around the country today as a sign of respect for the suffering of Cassius’ family, and to acknowledge the racial violence that is endemic in our society that allowed the accused to feel as though they had the right to take this child’s life.
If you are unable to attend the vigil, please consider donating to the Go Fund Me set up to pay for Cassius’ funeral, and the legal expenses his family now face in the fight for justice.
